OBITUARY- Calhoun County, Journal

Anne Spencer Edwards, 69, of Bruce, died Sept. 2, 2010 at her home. She was born Dec. 29, 1940 in Bruce, the daughter of John Henry and Annie Lois Hardin Spencer. She attended Hinds Community College and MS University for Women and received her degree in library science. She married Donald Edwards and made her home in Memphis, TN, where she worked as a librarian at Memphis Public Library and Information Center for 12 years. After retiring, she was a coordinator for the Stuttering Foundation of America. She was a member of Union Avenue Baptist Church in Memphis. She enjoyed cooking large meals for her family, traveling, antiquing, spending time with her grandchildren, and flower gardening. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral service was Saturday at 1 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bobby Douglas officiating and Bro. Jimmy Vance assisting. Burial was in Bruce Cemetery. Pallbearers were Douglas Edwards, Harold Edwards Jr., Willie Jobe West, John Brasher, Sonny Hamm and John Goudelock. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Green West, Carl Emory Spencer, Sonny Clanton and Boyd Collins.
Survivors include her best friend and loving husband, Donald Edwards of Bruce; a son, John Lee (Angela) Edwards of Memphis; two daughters, Pamela Edwards (Brad) Lieb of Jackson, MS and Amy Edwards (Brad) Rowland of Frederick, MD; four grandchildren, Henry Lieb, Emmett Lieb, Jacob Edwards and Tyler Rowland; her aunt, Mary Jean Edwards of Bruce; sisters-in-law, Edna Earl Edwards of Oxford and Glenda Edwards of Bruce; brother-in-law, Charles Douglas (Dale) Edwards of Southhaven; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Emmett Spencer.
