SCHUSTER - Marie, 105, died May 19, 1998 at her home in Dania, FL where she had resided for 38 years. Born as Marie Barth in Bonnesdorf, Transylvania in 1893, she came to America at age 17. Her mission was to make money to send back to her father to repay a loan made to rebuild a barn lost in a fire. Once that was accomplished, Marie stayed on in Pittsburgh, PA, working as a governess. In 1923, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she married Rudolph E. Schuster, Sr., well known among Translyvania Saxons for his choral Compositions and the directing of many singing Societies, Marie was preceded in death by her husband in 1968. An avid gardener, Marie had a gift for making things grow, and enjoyed being in her yard digging and planting. She refused to let her age keep her from working outdoors, and continued to do so until she reached the age of 98. Unable to walk alone, she could be seen in the yard, holding onto her walker with one hand while bending down working with the other one. She is survived by two sons, Kurt (Ethel) Schuster, of Evansville, IN; Rudolph (Mary) Schuster of Dania, FL; 4 grandchildren, Sheryl Schuster, Jan (Brett) Laufer all from Evansville, IN, Robert (Georgia) Schuster of Antioch, CA; Donna (Phillip) Woeckener of Davie, FL; and 4 great-grandchildren, Christopher and Stacy Schuster, Benjamin and Carle Laufer. Having lived under the care of her son in Dania for the past 34 years, Marie will be remembered by family, friends, and neighbors as a feisty, strong willed, but very loving lady. During recent years when she was confined to her home, visitors would always leave with a smile after spending time with her. She kept her sense of humor, and her song faith in God was an inspiration to those who knew her. She was a member of Lutheran Memorial Church, Hollywood, and a life long member of the Alliance of Translyvanian Saxons, Branch #4, Cleveland, OH. Friends may call Friday evening 6-8 PM at FRED HUNTER'S HOLLYWOOD MEMORIAL GARDENS HOME, 6301 Taft Sfreet. Funeral service 11:00 AM, Saturday at Davie United Methodist Church, Entombment -HOLLYWOOD MEMORIAL GARDENS.
