Verla Lenona Heyrend-Ferguson, 95, formerly of Idaho Falls, died March 20, 2012, in Meridian, Idaho, where she lived with her granddaughter, Debi Wagner and her husband, Rod, who gave her the tender care she needed due to Dementia

She was born March 10, 1917, in Jefferson County, Idaho to John Heyrend and Minerva Modena Osborne Heyrend. She was the tenth of eleven children. She grew up and attended schools in the area.

On September 1, 1934, she married James Raymond Ferguson in Bonneville County. In 1942, during World War II, they moved to Bremerton, Washington and then in 1946, to Kennewick, Washington. In 1949, they moved back to Idaho Falls. They moved to the Ucon area in 1973. On October 18, 1995, James passed away after 61 years of marriage.

Verla was a devoted mother and homemaker. She worked at Idaho Potato Growers for many years, was a floor lady for awhile and retired in her 50's.

She enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling at the cabin. Her favorite hobbies were gardening and quilting. She loved big dinners with her family and her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren

Survivors are:
Son: Gerald Raymond (Helen) Ferguson, Idaho Falls
Daughter-in-law: Elaine Ferguson, Idaho Falls
10 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, and 26 Great Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Marlin George Ferguson; 2 grandsons, Jim and John Ferguson; 1 great great granddaughter, Allred; 4 brothers and 6 sisters

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon).
