Tommie Wofford Sr., 71, of Springfield died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at St. John's Hospital. He was born April 10, 1932, in Woodland, Miss., the son of Robert and Rosie Virgers Wofford. He married Ophelia Gordon in 1951. Mr. Wofford was a machine operator and painter at Fiatallis, retiring in 1985, and custodial engineer for the state of Illinois, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he was a past trustee and member of St. James Brotherhood Club. Survivors: wife, Ophelia; five sons, William Sr. (wife, Wilma), James and Scott C. (wife, Tracy) Wofford, all of Springfield, Tommie Jr. (wife, Tina) Wofford of Naperville and Antonio L. Wofford of Dallas; two daughters, Barbara J. (husband, Nathaniel) Watson of Missouri City, Texas and Marjorie Richardson of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Rogert Jr. (wife, Shirley) Wofford of Springfield; five sisters, Sallie J. Blue of Bakersville, Calif., Miller M. Davidson of St. Louis, Flozell (husband, Jessie) Evans of Gary, Ind., Lola B. Jones of Chicago and Rosetta Hoskins of Eupora, Miss.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services: noon Monday, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, the Rev. Lee E. Field Jr. officiating.W.W.White Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
