The 1910 Federal Census for Township 1, Oklahoma (McCurtain County) shows Dewey E. Doan, age 3, born in Oklahoma; living with his father, a farmer, age 27, born in Arkansas; and his mother, Ovie, age 24, born in Arkansas. Also living in the household were Dewey's siblings: Otto E. Doan, age 7; Lillie May Doan, age 5; and James W. Doan, age 1 year 4 months; all born in Oklahoma.
The 1920 Federal Census for Frisco, Oklahoma (McCurtain County) shows Dewey Doan, a farm laborer, age 13, born in Oklahoma; living with his father, William Doan, a farmer, age 37, born in Arkansas; and his mother, Ovie, age 36, born in Arkansas. Also living in the household were Dewey's siblings: Lillie M. Doan, age 15; Willie Doan, age 11; Ray Doan, age 7; and Lois Doan, age 1 year 5 months; all born in Oklahoma.
The 1930 Federal Census for Simpson, Oklahoma (McIntosh County) shows Dewey Doan, a public scool teacher, age 25, born in Oklahoma, living as a boarder in the residence of Ben and Inez White.
The Caddo Herald Newspaper, April 20, 1934, reported that Dewey Doan, teacher of Midwest school south of Caddo, was badly burned in a fire when he was trapped in a second story room of a boarding house in Durant in which he and his younger brother, Ray, lived.
The 1940 Federal Census for Calera, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Dewey E. Doan, a public school teacher, age 32, born in Oklahoma; and his wife, Opal M. age 27, born in Arkansas. Living with them was one daughter, Sonda Ann Doan, age 2, born in Oklahoma.
Dewey died November 6, 1983 and was buried in the Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County).
