Bolena Laws

Mrs. Bolena Reid Laws, 84, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Burke County Hospice and Palliative Care.

Mrs. Laws was born in Caldwell County on Aug. 26, 1927 to the late Samuel Marcus and Rosa Earp Reid. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Edward Laws; three brothers, Rex Russell Reid, Jones Burl Reid and Fritz Reid; and one sister, Mae Effler.

She was of the Baptist faith and was the manager of Betty's Seafood in Holden Beach, N.C., for 20-plus years.

Those left to cherish her memory are three sons, James Albert Adams Jr. and wife, Elizabeth of Lenoir, N.C., William Steven Adams and wife Tammy of Granite Falls, N.C., and Rex Samuel Adams of Granite Falls, N.C.; four daughters, Jeanette Adams of Lenoir, N.C., Geneva Storie and husband, Romie of Hudson, N.C., Linda Mederois of Granite Falls, N.C., Alberta Hamby and husband, Larry of Granite Falls, N.C.; one sister, Fay Williams of Lenoir, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, and; and two great, great grandchildren.

A graveside service for Mrs. Laws will be held Friday, September 2, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Wildwood Cemetery in Lenoir, N.C., with the Rev. Rick Crouse officiating.

The family requests that memorials be made to Burke County Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 1029, Valdese, NC 28690.
