Obituary-After an illness of less than three weeks, of infirmities of old age, A.B. Brown, Sr. died at 7 o'clock Monday night September 9, 1912 at his home.
Alexander Breathitt Brown, Sr. was the son of A.J. and Nancy McKenzie Brown, long deceased, and was born December 27, 1832, now being almost eighty years of age. In 1855, Mr. Brown married Zerelda J. Stephens and to this union were born six children, four of whom survive; George F. Brown, of this county, Mrs. W.S. Holman Aurora, Ind., Miss Allie B. Brown of Louisville and Mrs. H.D. Arnold of Texas. Jas H. and Nancy McKenzie died years ago.
Mr. Brown is also survived by one stepdaughter, Miss M.A. Stephens, to whom he was especially devoted. Also, eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, the last making the fourth generation.
Mr. Brown has been a member of the Christian Church for over half a century and was the last old resident of the community in which he was born and spent his entire life. Since the death of his wife, two and one half years ago, Mr. Brown has been on the decline, and in the past six months has failed rapidly, his death not being unexpected, as he was taken violently ill and since last Friday has remained in a comatose state, passing peacefully away like a child going to sleep.
Peace to his ashes. His remains were laid to rest at the Lancaster Cemetery after short services by Eld. F.M. Tinder.
