Harriet M. Dobelbower, 93, of Anderson, died on August 29, 2011 following a brief illness.

She was born August 26, 1918 in Hamilton County, the daughter of John and Vera (Swab) Mohler. She was a 1936 graduate of Atlanta High School and a resident of Anderson for over 70 years.

She was employed by General Motors for 30 years and was active in the UAW. After she retired, Harriet volunteered for the United Senior Action Committee and the Area 6 Council on Aging. Her volunteer efforts with those agencies were instrumental in the development and passage of elder care related legislation. She was also the owner and operator of Polly's Antiques and a member of the UAW Craft and Hobby Guild. She was a skilled cook, seamstress and gardener.

Harriet is survived by her sister, Mary Sanders; children, John C. (wife, Cindy) Dobelbower, Teresa J. Daily, Aria Daugherty Smith (husband, Ross Dalbey); grandchildren, Carmen S. (husband, Jeff) Hall, Kristen A. (husband, Jeff) Suter, Sabra R. Lindzy; and several great grandchildren who will miss her.

Services entrusted to Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery.
