Born Nov. 25, 1909, in Mifflintown, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Fogleman) Smith.
Her husband, John C. "Jack" Beale, preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1983.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Patricia) Dillen, Altoona; a sister, Mrs. Frank (Phyllis) Wolfe, Mifflin; four grandchildren and nine great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Smith, Glenn Smith and Howard Smith, and by three sisters, Ethel Oberholtzer, Pauline Heeter and Hilda Smith.
She was a graduate of Mifflintown High School.
She retired with 35 years of service from the United Telephone Company, Mifflintown, where she had served as a telephone operator and supervisor and worked in the business office.
She was a lifetime member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Mifflintown, where she was a member of the choir and a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
A graveside funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Frank Oessenich officiating. Friends called 2-2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
