" He was a civil service employee at the Norfolk Navy Yard during World War II. He retired in 1974 as a machinist for the C&O Railroad. He was the secretary for the local International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers of which he was a 50-year member. He was also the secretary-treasurer for District 66 of the International Machinists Lodge No. 249 of Russell, Kentucky....[he] was a member of the Tidal Wave Lodge No. 272 F & AM of Portsmouth, Va."
