He was always known in the family by his middle name, "Lloyd".
In November 1942, he and his family lived at 1601 Elm Avenue in Portsmouth, VA. At the time he was employed as a welder in Shop 31 at the Norfolk Navy Yard.

From Obituary, March 18, 1990, The Ironton [Ohio] Tribune:
" He was a civil service employee at the Norfolk Navy Yard during World War II. He retired in 1974 as a machinist for the C&O Railroad. He was the secretary for the local International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers of which he was a 50-year member. He was also the secretary-treasurer for District 66 of the International Machinists Lodge No. 249 of Russell, Kentucky....[he] was a member of the Tidal Wave Lodge No. 272 F & AM of Portsmouth, Va."
