Born in Schroeppel, he lived in Phoenix most of his life. He was owner of H. Bowman and Sons-General Construction for 50 years.
He was a former chief of Phoenix Fire Co. l of which he was a member for 55 years. He was an original member of the Oswego County Fire Board. His other memberships include the New York State Firechiefs Association, the Onon-Northern Line Officers Association and the Oswego County Fire Association.
Surviving are two sons, Homer F. and Robert C.; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy A. Hamm of Avon, N.J., Mrs. Donna E. Gavula of Endicott, Mrs. Ova M. Reed and Mrs. Kay Kinne; 26 grandchildren and 119 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Phoenix Rural Cemetery.
