Actor. Born Eugene Hume, he was a comedian banjo player best known for his role as Bernardo on the 1950s, Walt Disney television series "Zorro". He began acting at an early age, serving as stage assistant to his father whom was a magician and was a radio announcer at age 17, broadcasting on Toledo radio station in 1925. He made his film debut in "Susie's Affairs" (1934), as Slug the banjoist, followed by playing banjo in the musical "Roberta" (1935). In the early 1940s, he performed a comedy banjo act in a few Broadway revues and appeared in a role as the genie Ali in the movie musical "Where Do We Go From Here" (1945). In the 1950s and 1960s, most of his work was on various Walt Disney programs such as "Babes in Toyland" (1961) and played the role of Sam Treat a clown, in the film "Toby Tyler" (1960). He died of a heart attack at age 74.
