Sad Death of George Bemiss
Well Known and Highly Esteemed Resident of Greenfield Township Called
To His Reward

George E. Bemiss, of Greenfield Township, was called to his eternal rest Thursday evening, April 9, 1908, after a lingering illness of several months.
In July last he suffered a partial sunstroke from which he never fully recovered. His physical strength gradually gave way and in January he was compelled to abandon his work and was confined to his bed nearly two months.
All that medical skill and loving care could do for him was done, but he slowly failed until death relieved his suffering.
George was the youngest son of the late Smith and Eliza Bemiss. He was a hard working, industrious man of sterling worth, ever to be depended upon. Always doing his duty as he saw it. A man one might be prompted to call a friend, a neighbor who will be sorely missed.
His religion was not of words, but deeds, living a self-sacrificing life, treating every man as his brother, and doing unto all as he would like to be done by.
He was above every difficulty and proved himself a man in the highest sense of the word.
He was in the forty-ninth year of his age. Mr. Bemiss was united in marriage to Annie J. Hartley March 25, 1883. He was ever a good husband, kind and sympathizing. They were blessed with two sons, William H. and George E., both of Nasby.
Besides his bereaved wife and two sons he leaves to mourn his untimely taking away one brother, Thomas H., of North East.
The family have the sincere sympathy of the community in the irreparable loss they have sustained.
The funeral was held Saturday at 11 o'clock from the Free Will Baptist church of Greenfield, Rev. Chapin, of Findley's Lake, officiating. Many sorrowing friends and neighbors paid their last tribute of love and esteem to the departed. Interment in the Oak Hill cemetery at North East.
