|Birth: ||Mar. 11, 1854|

Mrs. Sarah Switzer Gathers was born March 11, 1854 at Callensburg, Clarion county, Pa. As her parents both died when she was quite small, she was raised by Ross Corbett, the father of the great missionary, Rev. Hunter Corbett, of China.
She was married to Levi A. Gathers September 15, 1881 at the home of R.M. Corbett, Leatherwood, Pa. After marriage Mr. and Mrs. Gathers went west, locating at Drexel, Mo. and living in or near that place for about 20 years. The rest of her life was spent at various places, the last six years on their farm near Neal, Kansas where she died November 12, 1908.
She leaves to mourn their loss her husband and three sons Frank, Merle and George, also a daughter-in-law and little granddaughter, the wife and child of the oldest son, Frank, of Canadian, Tex.
The children were all with her and ministered to her every want so far as mortal could. It was a great comfort to her to have them near. Besides her family she leaves a host of friends to whom she was very dear and whom she loved with all her heart. They came from far and near with loving sympathy, longing to ease her pain and learning lessons of Christian patience from her. She joined the Presbyterian church when only 13 years of age and has been an earnest faithful member of the same ever since and died putting her trust in Him "who giveth his beloved sleep." (Poem)
