James Earl Gilkey, 76, of Kirkville died Tuesday. Born in Lyons, he lived in East Syracuse most of his life. He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy.
He retired in 1987 as president of E.Y. Gilkey & Sons Glass Company, after 42 years. He was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church in East Syracuse. He was a former member of East Syracuse Lions Club and Rogue's Roost Golf Course. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors: His wife of 55 years, the former Beverly Law; two daughters, Linda G. Welch of Minoa and Christine L. Gilkey of Kirkville; three sons, Mark A. and Michael K., both of Kirkville, and Bryan P. of Minoa; a sister, Mary Anne Hoffman of North Syracuse; a brother, Robert H. of Cicero; 20 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Services: 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Delaney & Greabell Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Matthew's Church. Burial, White Chapel Memory Gardens. Calling hours, 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 241 Kinne St., East Syracuse. Contributions: Hospice of Central New York, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool 13088
