Although an only child, Doris was raised in Butte amongst numerous cousins and family members. In 1946, Doris married James S. Hanley, also a Butte native, and together they raised three children. Although the family moved to Great Falls in 1951, Doris would always tell you that she was from Butte.
Doris was a registered nurse through and through. Her passion and sense of pride was deeply rooted in her profession. From childhood her vocation was never in question. She wanted, and would be, a registered nurse. She worked for Dr. Hanley (no relation) and The Deaconess Hospital in Great Falls. In 1976 Jim and Doris moved to Helena where Jim began his own business. She worked for St. Peter's Hospital until she retired in 1993. After her retirement, she volunteered her nursing services to the Senior Program at Rocky Mountain Development Council and to St. Peter's Hospital.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and her parents and grandparents.
She is survived by her three children, eight grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
