OSCAR McGEE DIED AT HIS HOME IN KANSAS

From Edgar McGee, of Yakima, Washington, comes the following obituary of Oscar McGee, formerly of this community, who passed away recently at Hiawatha, Kansas.

"The passing of Oscar McGee, at Hiawatha, Kansas, last week will be of interest to a number of the older people there. He was born at LaHarpe, Ill., on March 5, 1858, and was the son of Sarah Jane and Joshua McGee. Soon after his birth his parents moved to a farm of their own eight miles east of Blandinsville and here he spent most of the first 28 years of his early life.

"On December 29, he and Allie McDermitt were united in marriage and the following spring they moved to a farm in Brown county, Kansas, near Hiawatha. In this vicinity their children were born to them: a son and two daughters. The son enlisted in the World War and died of the influenza while in the army. The two daughters are not living in Hiawatha.

"Two brothers and two sisters also survive him. They are: Mrs. Clara Rush, of Axtell, Kansas; Mrs. J. H. Goodier, of Seattle, Washington, Samuel McGee of College View, Nebraska; and Edgar McGee, of Yakima, Washington.

Had the deceased lived, he would have been 78 years old on the 5th of next March."
