Birth: 1979
Death: Jun. 6, 2003

Screenwriter, actress, and scenic artist. Kaplan was a talented screenwriter who at the age of 16 in 1995, sold her first script for $150,000, entitled, "The Powers To Be" to New Line Cinema. At the time she was entering her senior year at Santa Monica, California's Crossing School. The script was based on her own observations of white classmates in West Los Angeles who mimicked gangster culture and earned her a reputation at Endeavor. After graduating from high school she chose not to go to college but to devote her time to writing, which she did for the next five years. She wrote for a number of studios, and also did an adaptation of the novel, "The Basic Eight" which was written by Daniel Handler. Her other works include a pilot for a new television series called, "Telegraph Hill" which was bought by CBS, which she wrote when she came back from a year-long trip to South America, and again is based on her experiences. Kaplan also worked on, "The Dancer" (2000), The Bread, My Sweet" (2001), "Out Of The Black" (2001), "The Madman Prophecies" (2002), and had a small role as 'Suzy' in the 1992 film, "Bikini Beach Race." Kaplan was one of five people who died in the plane crash in Los Angeles, California, on June 6, 2003, when a small plane crashed into an apartment building. The other people were her uncle, and 3 people inside the building. (bio by: K)
