She was born Sept. 18, 1914, in Winfield Township, to the late Harry E. Kennedy and Nellie Hesselgesser Kennedy.
Mrs. Plyler was a graduate of the Winfield Township High School and The Butler Business College.
She worked for Mellon Bank's Butler office for 43 years, retiring in September 1978 as a safety deposit clerk.
She was a member of the Christ Community United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Plyler is survived by two stepdaughters, Marcia A. Goodman of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Kathy Wimer and her husband, Evan, of Saxonburg; one stepson, Robert W. Plyler Jr. and his wife, Anne, of Jamestown, N.Y.; eight step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul W. Freehling, who passed away Aug. 30, 1977; her second husband, Robert W. Plyler, who passed away Jan. 16, 1996; five sisters, Ruth Goodbread, Marian Elwell, Florence Whitmer, Helen Banks and infant Alice Kennedy; and one brother, H. Eugene Kennedy.
PLYLER - Friends of Mae Kennedy Plyler, who died Monday, April 11, 2011, will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Howard F. Burrell, of Christ Community United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will take place in the Sarverville Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations to be made to the Lifesteps Program Center, 383 New Castle Road, Butler, PA 16001.
