Sallie Lopez Moïse, second daughter of Edward Warren Moïse and the former Priscilla Lopez, was born August 24th 1839 in Woodville, Mississippi. Sallie was the twin sister of Theodore Lopez Moïse,who died at birth and Celilia, three years older. Her parents were both from prominent Charleston (SC) families; who had emigrated to Mississippi, so her father could practice medicine.

Just four days after her birth, Sallie's mother died; leaving her father a widower with two young daughter. In 1840, they moved to New Orleans. Here Sallie would live the reminder of her long life.

Sallie Lopez Moïse departed this life on the 27th of August 1924, just 3 days after her 85th birthday. Sallie was buried alongside her half-sister, Marie Aline [Moïse] Conrad (1857-1906) in the family plot in Lafayette cemetery.
