Gary graduated from Roberts High School, then attended Ricks College and Idaho State University. He served in the Air Force in Korea and married Sue on November 19, 1966, in Idaho Falls. In addition to farming in Roberts for 31 years, he owned and operated Hastings Farm Service. Later, he worked with the New Sweden Irrigation District. He lived in American Falls for two years and Idaho Falls for 26 years. He was a Christian and had served as President of the Roberts Lions Club and was a member of the Bass Club. Survivors beside Sue included: children Candace Moehnke and Brock Hastings, both of Idaho Falls; siblings David Lyle Hastings of Temecula, CA, and Karen Mae (Jim) Carleton of Idaho Falls; and grandkids Cody Wayne Nolan, Taylor Lynn Nolan, and Ashley Nicole Hastings. Funeral Services held Wednesday, August 11th at Wood Chapel of the Pines. Burial with Military Rites by Bonneville County Veterans.
