Cecilia Woodville Moïse, eldest daughter of Edward Warren Moïse and the former Priscilla Lopez, was born October 8th 1836 in Woodville, Mississippi. Her parents were both from prominent Charleston (SC) families; who had emigrated to Mississippi, so her father could practice medicine. In August 1839, Cecilia's mother died due to complications from the birth of her twin brother & sister, Theodore Lopez (1839-1839) and Sallie Lopez (1839-1924).
In 1840, Cecilia, her sister, Sallie, and their father moved to New Orleans; where Dr. Moïse studied law and became a leading voice in Louisiana Bar and Legislature. In 1845, Edward Moïse married Louise Hubert adding ten more children to the family.
Cecilia and her sister, Sallie lived the reminder of their long lives in New Orleans. With Cecilia departing this life on August 9th 1921 just a month shy of her 85th birthday. And Sallie following three years later.
