Tanner was very stunning, always with a tan. He could walk through a night club and all heads would turn. The first time I met Tanner was at the hospital, he was in visiting Brian. I remember this profusion of long thick blond hair, a man with the face of an angel and of course the tan.
I remember showing him the cemetery where Brian was buried, he wasn't able to make the funeral, I think he was out of town maybe.
I remember the phone call when he told me he was positive. Why do people always use the "you could be hit by a bus" analogy? I remember running into him over the next few years, once at gaypride, was it '94 or '95, and again at a club. Then we lost contact and I figured he had decided to leave the area and move to his mothers.
I was out at the cemetery visiting Brian and was finishing up by just wandering around and looking at headstones when this newer, different, black stone stopped me in my tracks. Imagine my surprise when I realized I had ran into Tanner once again. Sadly, all that wondering I had been doing since we lost contact was answered.
