In the Soldiers Home in Milwaukee, Gottlieb Carl Bartsch died of edema yesterday. He was a resident of Mayville and had been ill since July last year. He had reached the age of 66 years, 10 months and 14 days. He was born in Germany in 1842 and came as an eight year old, to America, with his parents. When the war broke out, he joined the Army willingly and served until the war ended. In 1869 he married Miss Louise Sprenger, who died many years ago. At first, the couple lived in Iron Mountain and since 1891 they lived in Mayville. During the last six years, he lived in the Soldiers Home, from which he was called away, to the Grand Army.
He leaves behind a son, Eduard Bartsch in Mayville, who works for the railroad.
The surviving daughters are: Emma, Mrs. Heinrich Kloeden in Mayville; Ida, Mrs. August Thiel, in Milwaukee; Alma, Mrs. Robert Kloeden in Mayville; Ella, in Milwaukee; Eleonora, Mrs. Fred. Billington in Mayville.
In addition to these children, he also leaves behind one brother Carl E. Bartsch and one sister, Mrs. Leonhard Baumgaertner, both in Mayville.
His earthly remains will be taken to Mayville for burial from Fred. Billington's home, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

The funeral of the old veteran, C. G. Bartsch took place Thursday, from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Billington. Mr. J. Herberg spoke words of consolation and the members of the local Raymond Post bore their comrade to his final resting place in Graceland cemetery.
The following friends and relatives from abroad attended the funeral of C. G. Bartsch Thursday: Mrs. A. Thiel and Miss Ella Bartsch of Milwaukee, Mmes. Fred and Ed. Sprenger of Woodland, Mr. Wm. Spiering of Waupun, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baumgaertner of Hartford.
