Funeral services for Watson Calhoun Adkins, 39, of 3354 Pio Nono Circle will be held at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of Horton-Ivey Funeral Home. The Rev. W.B. Gaultney and the Rev. Warren A. Olds will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetary. Pallbearers will be Russell Evans, Willie Lindsey, Roscoe Wheeless, John M. Dean, Ralph Pullam Jr. and Tommy Davidson. Mr. Adkins an employee of Cherokee Farms Dairy was born in Bibb County the son of Rufus and Clara Maddox Adkins. He was a member of White Oaks Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army 82nd Airborne Division Company C 504th Parachute Infantry. He was in these Battles. Sicilian, Rome-Arno, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 1 Silver Star, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Ribbon, Distinguished Unit Badge, Bronze Arrowhead, Combat Infantry Badge. He is survived by his widow, the former Viola Justice, two daughters, Connie and Joan Adkins, Macon: one brother Steve Adkins, Macon: three sisters, Mrs. Walter McNair, Cochran, Mrs. J. D. Mitchell and Mrs. Clarice Shields, both of Macon. Horton-Ivey Funural home is in charge of arrangements. Published in the Macon Telegraph and News, Macon Georgia on July 10, 1962.
