Louis William Whitehead of Irondale, Missouri passed away Thursday, October 5, 2000, in the St. Joe Manor Nursing Home at Bonne Terre, Mo., at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 29 days. He was born on July 6, 1928, at DeSoto, MO to the late Louis Thomas and Hester (Vance) Whitehead.
Mr. Whitehead was retired from McDonnell Douglas, but his real passion was farming at which he was very successful. He was united in marriage to Theresa Richardson in November of 1945 at St. Louis, MO, and 9 children were born to this union. One daughter, Debbie Barbey, and one brother, Charles Whitehead, preceded him in death.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his five sons: Keith Whitehead of Irondale, William Louis (Jan) Whitehead of St. Louis, Leonard (Peggy) Whitehead of St. Louis, David (Elizabeth) Whitehead of Arnold, and Michael (Brenda) Whitehead of Arnold; three daughters: Margaret (Leonard) Miner of Mineral Point, Carol (Jim) Harmon of Park Hills, and Mary (Harold) Harmon of Mineral Point; one borhter, Paul Whitehead of Cadet; three sisters: Bernice Reynolds of Festus, Dorothy Whitehead and Betty Whitehead of DeSoto; 32 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 am Saturday October 7, 2000, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bonne Terre with Fr. John Schneider as celebrant. Serving as pallbearers were: William Louis Whitehead, Leonard Whitehead, David Whitehead, Keith Whitehead, Michael Whitehead, and Jerry Harmon.
Interment was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Bonne Terre under the direction of the Britton funeral Home of Potosi.
