Mrs. Julius Hartung, who died at her home five miles north of here on Monday, February 26th, was born at Quincy, Ill., during the year 1862. She, as Margaret Booksman, grew to womanhood and received her early education in that city. During the year 1894 she came to Nebraska to visit with friends and relatives where she met Mr. Hartung of this place, whose friendship soon ripened into the happy union which the cruel hand of death has now severed in twain. Five children were born to them, one son and four daughters, who together with the father, mourn her demise. The funeral was held from the home in Sheridan Township and the St. Johns Lutheran Church on Thursday, March 1st, with Rev. Lang officiating, who in well chosen work paid a glowing tribute to her memory. Interment was made in the family lot in the cemetery.

Mrs. Julius Hartung, who died at her home in Sheridan Township on Monday, February 26, following an illness of kidney trouble of several years duration, was born in Quincy, Ill., 61 years ago. She came to Nebraska in 1894 and was soon after united in marriage to Julius Hartung of this place. They immediately settled down to housekeeping on what was at the time known as the Joe Hammang farm, where they prospered in material things. About two years ago they retired from active farm life and moved into a handsome modern cottage which they had erected for their occupancy a short distance from their former palatial home on their farm. Five children were born to the union, one son and four daughters, who together with the husband mourn her departure. She was a woman possessed of a beautiful Christian character and beloved by all who came in contact with her. The funeral services were held from the home and the Lutheran church near them on Thursday, March 1, with Rev. Lang officiating, amid the participation of a large circle of mourning relatives and friends. Interment was made in the family lot in the cemetery near the church.
NOTE: According to the Washington County Deed Books, Margaret's maiden name is spelled as Buxmann. Margaret and Julius were married on December 19, 1894 in Washington county, Nebraska.
