Limerick Accident;
"LINEMAN KILLED BY ROLLING POLES"

Robert L. Bellinger 36 of Brownville,Lineman for the Township Telephone Co., was killed instantly at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday when he was pinned beneath three 40-ft long telephone poles, which had rolled from a railroad flatcar on a sliding here.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Officer, Bellinger had been standing on top of the loaded flatcar which was opposite the Roe Feed Store. With help of another lineman David W. Trainham, 30, he was attempting to unfasten the heavy wire brackers which secured the load of poles. The restrainary stakes on the car let go, rolling the poles to the ground and pinning Bellinger Beneath three of the poles.

Bellinger, married and father of 2 children, was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. H. C. Livingston of Dexter, who was appointed coroner's physician by Dist Atty, Angus G. Sander. Death was attributed to crushing chest and the head injuries.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Ellen McCarthy Bellinger, his mother, Mrs. Mildred Luther Bellinger of Brownville and 2 children; Robert and Deborah at home.

The body was release to the Johnson Funeral Home in Dexter.
