Lola was born March 17, 1935 in Colfax, Calif. to the late Hattie Suehead and Arthur Gilbert. She was surrounded by her family when she passed on peacefully at home December 28, 2007.
Lola is survived by; two daughter's: Kimberley Armbruster of Auburn, Calif., and Geraldine Camp of Rocklin, Calif.; four son's: Clyde Prout Jr. of Auburn, Calif., Jonathan Prout of Rocklin, Calif., Timothy Prout Sr. of Auburn, Calif., and Steven Prout of Auburn, Calif.; thirty grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; two sisters: Elvira Holloway of Atascadero, Calif., and Linda Marks of Loomis, Calif., and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Lola grew up in Colfax, Calif. and raised her family there and in surrounding areas. She was married to the late Clyde Prout Sr., one of the pioneer family's of the Colfax area and was the last Gilbert, one of the last native American families of the Auburn area member, and honored elder of the Colfax-Todds Valley Consolidated Tribe and caretaker of the Colfax Indian Cemetery.
She was self taught and found education and she worked for many families in Colfax and surrounding area's. She worked for Headstart when her children were young in Weimar, Calif, Placer County and the early year programs in Placer County O.E.O., Grass Roots, Beadwork In Motion, then she found her way to becoming a CNA and worked in the nursing field for 30 years.
Lola worked in most of the surrounding convalescent Hospitals in Auburn and surrounding areas. She was also a Certified Home Health Aide and worked in many private homes. After her retirement she founded the First Share Food Program in Roseville, Calif., along with her family in which she enjoyed for five years.
She was also a member of Women of the Moose in Auburn, Calif. Lola loved working in the nursing field and had a big heart for those she took care of. She also loved her large family.
She is preceded in death by her late husband Clyde Prout Sr.; three daughters: Elizabeth Gour, Clara Momam, Laura Armbruster; and one son Richard Prout.
She will be greatly missed by her family and all those who new here.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2008, from 2-8 p.m., at Lassila Funeral Chaples, 551 Grass Valley Hwy. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Colfax Indian Cemetery.
