Son of John Gupton.

Married Lola Bridgewater in 1888. They were the parents of eight children.

Obituary:
Thomas Virgil Gupton, son of the late John Gupton, who was born in Green County February 22, 1863, died at his home at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 1945, at the age of 82 years. He was united in marriage to Miss Lola Bridgewater 57 years ago who preceded him in death 11 years ago. He professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Green County, of which he remained a faithful member until death. Surviving are 5 daughters and 3 sons: Mrs. Grace Deener, of Bowling Green, Ky.; Mrs. J. W. Franklin, Mrs. Garette Feather and Mrs. Dillon Wallace, of Louisville, Ky.; Mrs. Kenneth Durham, of Taylor County; Mr. J. W. Gupton, Mr. R. L. Gupton, and Mr. O. C. Gupton, all of Taylor County; also a foster brother, George Gupton. Mr. Gupton leaves two brothers and three sisters: Chas. Gupton, county, Stewart Gupton, Greensburg, Mrs. Virgil Coakley, county, Mrs. Jim Beard, of Columbia, and Mrs. J. E. Cooper, Greensburg. Also surviving are 36 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Friday at the Saloma Methodist Church with the Rev. D. L. Druien, assisted by Rev. F. A. Sanders. Burial was in the Saloma cemetery. The pallbearers were: George Newcomb, Eldridge O'Banion, Ed Skaggs, James Fields, Owen Tutman, and Charlie Parrott. The flowerbearers were: Ruth Robinson, Frances Grooms, Edith Vittitoe, Eleanora Durham, LaVerne Durham, Georgia Gupton, LaVerne Gupton and Irene Morehead. Out-of-town people here for the services were: T. A. Bridgewater, Bowling Green, J. P. Bridgewater, Greensburg, Mrs. Irene Morehead, Bowling Green, Mrs. Edith Vittitoe, Louisville, Mrs. Ruth Robinson, Illinois, Mrs. Frances Grooms, Indiana, and Sgt.
