LAKE BLOOMINGTON — Bill C. Anderson Sr., 86, Lake Bloomington, passed away at 5:43 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 21, 2011) at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Home, Chenoa.

His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Dr. Randall K. Perry officiating. Burial will be in Lexington Township Cemetery, Lexington. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, 24588 Church St., Chenoa, IL 61726.

Bill was born July 12, 1925, in Gridley, the son of Sam and Elizabeth Rinkenberger Anderson. He married Helen M. Barnard on Aug. 27, 1945, in Bloomington. She passed away on Jan. 12, 2008.

He is survived by two daughters, Barb (Vern) Tichler, Morrison, and Connie (Ned) Umland, Gridley; two sons, Sam (Linda) Anderson, Bradenton, Fla., and Bill C. (Nancy) Anderson Jr., Lake Bloomington; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Bill was the former owner and operator of Bill's Lake Road Inn at Lake Bloomington. Bill had a real zest for life. He had a generous spirit, a caring nature and an outgoing personality. He had a special way of making strangers feel like friends. Bill was an avid collector of motorcycles and antique cars. He enjoyed traveling with his late wife, Helen. For more than 20 years they traveled to Arizona and Florida to spend their fall and winters. They did this until their health did not allow them to continue.

Bill's sense of humor will be missed by friends and family alike. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather.
