She was murdered along with her sister (Ida H. Deane) by a jealous lover of her husband named Cordelia Botkin.
Cordelia, who lived in San Francisco, Ca., sent poisoned candy to Mary "Elizabeth" who shared it with her sister. They both died of arsenic poisoning days later.
