A native of Athens, he had lived in Virginia for the past several years. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Epps of Athens. During World War II, he was a member of the Coast Guard. He later served as an employee at the U.S. Navy Yard in Norfolk, VA.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethany Free Will Baptist Church in Norfolk with the Rev. Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Spangler Epps, Norfolk; one daughter Mrs. Mike L. (Carolyn) Dickerson, Guatemala, Cuba; four sisters, Mrs. A. G. Thomas, Mrs. Bill McKinnon, Mrs. M. T. Toney and Mrs. Allen G. Smith, all of Athens; and one brother Capt. William Epps, Jacksonville, Fla
