OBITUARY
Theron T. Ticknor of McMinnville died at Oakwood Country Place on Friday, Feb. 15, 2008. He was 88.

At his request, no public services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Macy & Son Funeral Directors.

Born in Wapato, Wash., on Jan. 15, 1920, he was the son of Joel and Sarah (Hilliard) Ticknor. He grew up in Prosser, Wash.

He married Louella Blondo on Nov. 9, 1938, in Chehalis, Wash. The couple lived in Bucoda, Wash., until 1945, when they moved to Winston Creek, Wash.

In Winston Creek, he worked as a sawyer for Howard Brothers for 17 years. He then moved to Centralia, Wash, where he owned and operated a ranch for 12 years.

He owned and operated a tavern in Rufus from 1961 until 1968 and Edimos Grocery Store in Yamhill from 1968 until 1973, when he retired and moved to Sheridan. He spent 15 years in Sheridan before moving to McMinnville.

He played the guitar, accordion and harmonica. He coached girls softball and bowled in a league in Washington. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Ticknor is survived by two daughters, Rosemarie Tibbels of Vancouver, Wash., and Judy Lee Ticknor of Salt Lake City, along with six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Theron Jr., in 1994, and three brothers, Harvey, George and Henry.
