John Jacob Maypole, 83 years of age, died on Friday, February 15, at his home. He had been a resident of Oak Park for over 20 years, and had been a resident of the Chicago area for the last 79 years. He was the uncle of State Senator George M. Maypole.
Mr. Maypole was brought to Chicago as a child in 1855 and with his brother, the late W. T. Maypole, former alderman and state senator, established a sheet iron business at Canal and Madison streets in 1875. During the last quarter century he was not active in business.
Members of his family who survive him are his daughter, Mrs. Fred Schukraft of 303 North East avenue, from whose home the funeral services were conducted on Monday, and John B. Maypole of River Forest.
Interment was at Rosehill.
