Hoke James Corbett, 83, passed away early Thursday morning, January 15, 2004, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center. A native of Ware County, he had lived in Fernandina Beach, FL until 1984 and then returned to Waycross.

He retired from the Container Corporation. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Pacific theater. He was awarded a Bronze Star.

He was the son of the late John M. and Sarah Jane Wildes Corbett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne Tillman Corbett.

Survivors are a son, Steve (wife Tina) Corbett, Missouri; two sisters, Myrtle Brantley,Waycross and Sara Rowell, Manor; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Shawna, and Steven Corbett; two great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Blanche King, Waycross, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, from the Pearson-Treadwell Chapel with the Rev. Dewayne Tanner officiating. Interment followed in the Beulah Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 329, Palmetto, Georgia 30268.
