"Obituary
Susan A., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ross, was born in Donigal Westmoreland county Pennsylvania January 26, 1842. At the age of 15 she with her parents moved to Adams county, Illinois, where in the year 1859 she was united in marriage to David Strickler, and to this union four children, 3 boys and 1 daughter were born, viz: Edgar R., Cora L., Frank W. (deceased), and Ray.

February 28, 1911, the subject of this sketch entered into life at her home in Skidmore Missouri, aged 69 years, 1 month and 2 days, where she will meet her husband who preceded her August 21, 1907, leaving her alone all these years.

Twenty-six years ago Mother Strickler and husband came to Missouri, locating near Maryville, where they afterwards made their home for eight years and later moved to their Skidmore home from which they each entered into glory.

While living at Maryville she united with the Christian church in which she has been a faithful member to the last. Her two living sisters were not present at the funeral.

Mother Strickler was a lover of the beautiful which fact her relatives and friends bore in mind as testified to by the bank of beautiful flowers at the head of her casket. Her life was one of quietness, being much attached to her beautiful home, and because of her failing health spent most of her remaining days there. She loved the church and was a kind and thoughtful neighbor.

A quiet service, in keeping with the life that had gone out was conducted at the late home in Skidmore March 3, at 2 p.m. by her minister, Elder Harlan, and the body was laid to rest in the Masonic Cemetery."
