Captain Hugh Percy,
Ship from Rotterdam by way of Crows
Arrival: Philadelphia, Aug.11,1732
Oath of Alleigance and
anglicized name to Leonard same day.
This made his name John Leonard Zigler
The spelling of the name Zeigler was changed
on his voyage logs to Zigler. So being
German,he went along with the English way
of writing it. Through time the name was
also changed to Ziglar. I have seen
various ways of spelling it, such as
Zegler,Zeagler,Zeaglar,Zagler,and numerious
other ways. But it should all come back
to either Ziegler,Ziglar,Zigler or Zeigler,
some have never changed it. When he died he may
have been using one of these names.
