OBITUARY :
MRS. JOANN G. (GREENAWALT) EIGENBRODE, 79, of 11575 Country Club Road, Waynesboro, PA, passed away at 4:10 P.M., Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in Quincy Village, Quincy, PA, where she was a guest for a short time.

Born March 6, 1932 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Catherine (Fitz) Greenawalt. She spent her early life in Cascade, MD.

Mrs. Eigenbrode was a graduate of Smithsburg High School, Smithsburg, MD, with the Class of 1950. She later attended Waynesboro Business College.

She and her late husband, Mr. Richard D. Eigenbrode, were married September 13, 1968 in Hagerstown, MD. They had lived at their present residence since 1989. Dick passed away December 15, 2009.

Mrs. Eigenbrode was employed at Thurmont Bank, Thurmont, MD, Howard Johnson in Chambersburg, PA, and at Holiday Inn in Chambersburg and Hagerstown. She then co-owned and operated with her husband the Travel Lodge, presently Comfort Inn, Waynesboro from 1977 until 1987. They also owned the Hoover House, Waynesboro, from 1984 until her retirement in 1987.

She was a member of Otterbein Church of Waynesboro, Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary and Waynesboro Country Club.

Mrs. Eigenbrode is survived by three children, Robert "Rob" Pryor, Jr. of Hagerstown, Kathy J. Pryor of Waynesboro and Kristina M. Whalen of Harleysville, PA; two grandchildren; Hannah M. Whalen and MJ Whalen both of Harleysville and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday, August 22, 2011 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, with Pastor John Mullen officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

It was her request to have no public viewing, but the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday in the funeral home.
