Everett R. "Jack" Whittaker, 87, of Greenville passed away on August 17, 2011 at Oakley House in Greenville. He was born on November 10, 1923 near Greenville, the son of Russell and Iva (Anthony) Whittaker. Jack was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 245. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma (Eley) Whittaker; a daughter, Shelba Miller; sisters, Elnora Marshall, Emma Frederick, and Marie Garbig; and brothers, Don Whittaker, Chalmer Whittaker, and Gerald Whittaker. Survivors include daughters, Shirley Perez, Shelia McGuire, Sherry Garbig, and Jacqueline Soper; step-son, Stephen L. Sink; step-daughter, Joan Anderson; brother, James R. Whittaker; sisters, Dorothy Sullenbarger, Vera Marshall, and Nola Coning; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Haworth officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery.
