Donald E Quast, 70, Rockford, Ill, went to be with the Lord at 3:45 p.m.Wednesday, February 6, 2002, at Rush Presbyterian ST Luke Hospital, Chicago. Born May 10, 1931 in Verona, ND, son of Joe and Marie (Beeber) Quast. A Rockford resident for 36 years coming from North Dakota. Married Gloria Rhyan in Aberdeen, SD December 1, 1950. Worked in construction in North Dakota, building I-94 through the state. After moving to Illinois he was employed as a machine assembler for Mattison Machine Works for 30 years, retiring in 1997.Member of Halsted Rd Baptist Church, where he was a devoted and dedicated Deacon. Former member of Berean Baptist Church for 33 years, where he was a dedicated and active member. He enjoyed woodworking and machine repair. He was a jack of all trades and master of all.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria, Rockford; children, Charles C (Pegi) Quast, Machesney Park, Don W (Verna) Quast, Rockford, Julie (Rick) Rubendall, Machesney Park, Karen (Carl) Winsett, Rockford, Debbie (Steve) Olson, Rockford and Joseph (Jane) Quast, Roscoe; 18 grandchildren, Adrain, Charles Jr (Michelle), Nikkia, Bruce, Carrie (Chris), Hope, Mary Jane (David), Christina, Ricky Jr, Kendra, Cole, Jason (Kristi), Jeremiah, James, Kevin, Joe Jr, Ben, Beth and Brandon; six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Derrick, David II, Morgan Jane, Alex and Dakota; brothers, Richard (Eleanor) Quast, Valley City, ND and Roger (Ruth) Quast, Fargo, ND; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Joe and Marie Quast.
Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at Fred C Olson Funeral Chapels with Pastor Jerry DeMond and Pastor Leonard Huebscher officiating. Burial was in Argyle Cemetery.
