TRUMANSBURG, N.Y. -- Grace Parker Fox died March 15, 2001, at her daughter's home in Trumansburg. She was 89.

Born in Appleton, N.Y. she was the daughter of Albert and Mary Rood Parker. She lived in Clinton for over 50 years moving to Trumansburg four years ago.

She graduated from Park Avenue Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, N.Y., becoming a registered nurse. She also attended Houghton College in N.Y., while working as a registered nurse in the infirmary. She received a degree in Christian Education.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Flemington where she taught Sunday School for many years.

She was a member of the Clinton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She delivered meals for Meals on Wheels until she was in her early 80s. She also served as a volunteer at the Hunterdon Medical Center.

Mrs. Fox who spent endless hours nurturing sick people in her home, and providing young people with a bed and a meal when needed. She was a friend and supporter to many missionaries around the world and earned a reputation for being the first to respond to people in need.

Her husband, Daniel K. Fox died in 1988. A brother, Ralph Parker and two sisters, Martha Parker and Muriel Smith, also died earlier.

She is survived by two daughters, Martha Fox Sitzman in Trumansburg and Edna Swinborne of Chesapeake, Va., and three grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Clinton. Conducting the services will be her nephew, the Rev. Daniel Elliott of Littleton, Colo. Assisting Rev. Elliott will be her cousin Rev. Herbert Gates of Bradford, N.Y. and Lloyd Elliott of Shortsville, N.Y.

Interment is planned at Riverside Cemetery in Clinton. A memorial gathering is planned for 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations can be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators, Box 628200, Orlando, Fla., 32862-8200, designated for the ministry of Dan and Sharon Pinkham.
