Josiah Smith
Birth: Feb. 26, 1738
Death: Apr. 4, 1803

U.S. Congressman. Born in Pembroke, Massachusetts, he graduated from Harvard College in 1774, studied law, was admitted to the bar and practiced in law in Boston. He was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representives (1789-90) served in the Massachusetts State Senate (1792-94, 1797) and was Massachusetts State Treasurer in 1797. In 1801, he was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Seventh-Congress, serving until 1803. He died of smallpox at age 65 in Pembroke, Massachusetts. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
