First Auglaize Heat Victim Is Taken Thursday
WAPAKONETA, July 25 - Auglaize county's first death attributed to heat prostration was reported today with the death of Adam Lanhart, 83, widely known Clay-twp farmer and the last member of an old pioneer family, who died Thursday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Helmlinger, six miles southeast of here.
Lanhart accompanied the Helmlinger family into this city Saturday and complained of the intense heat. He fell prostrated shortly after noon Sunday and never regained consciousness. He was born on August 28, 1848, and has lived in Shelby and Auglaize-cos his entire life time. He was a widely known Clay-twp farmer until ten years ago when he was unable to continue. He has made his home with the Helmlinger family for the past two years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Helmlinger Lutheran church, six miles southeast of here, with the Rev. Geroge Buscicer, of Montra, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery, one mile east of this city.
