Helen Ruth (Batt) Bass Neidzielski Myers of Barryton, Michigan, entered eternal life on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Metron in Big Rapids, Michigan. She was 86 years old.
Helen was born February 1, 1925, the sixth of 10 children born to Howard and Louise (Ostrander) Batt in Dollarville, Michigan. Helen's sisters, Dolores Baker of Cadillac and Marilyn (Marion) Rutherford of Galesburg, survive her. Helen's other siblings were Darrell, Inez, Audley, Alton, Eldred, Eleanor and William. Her siblings blessed her life with many nieces and nephews and their children, who will miss their Aunt Helen.
Helen was the loving mother of six children, Jerrilynn (Bud) Strong of Barryton, Cheryl Forcia of Lansing, John (Deborah) Neidzielski of Remus, Jeffrey (Lori) Neidzielski of Big Rapids and Kelli (Todd) Hickman of Marcellus; four stepchildren, Linda (John) Abbott of Farwell, Marcia (Otto) Burmeister of Clare, Paula (Gary) Finney of Barryton, Larry (1988) and his wife, Nancy (2011) Myers, who both preceded Helen, and a step-half-daughter, Danya (Allen) Daily of Colorado.
Helen was preceded in death by her husbands, Wilbur Bass, who passed away during WWII, and John August Neidzielski Jr., whom she married in 1946 and who passed away in 1955. In 1956, she married Russell Myers. Russ and Helen moved from Cadillac to Russ' hometown of Barryton in 1958 with their children. Helen was a homemaker while Russ worked road construction. As the children grew and left home, Helen took a job at Evart Products for 16 years, retiring in early 1987 when Russ' health began to fail. Russ passed away from cancer in October of 1987.
Helen's family provided her with an abundance of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren to love, nurture and tease. She had 38 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Her grandsons, Johnny Abbott, Otto Burmeister, Gary Neil Finney and Anthony Cook, and a great-great-granddaughter, Paisley Drew Finney, also preceded Helen.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2011, at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
