Ruth A. Baker, 52, of Lancaster, died after a courageous five year battle with cancer, Friday evening, August 12, 2011 at Lancaster General Hospital with her husband and family at her side. Born in Abington, PA she was the daughter of Rev. Thomas V. and Ruth Kaebick McInnes of Lancaster. She and her husband, Dean E. Baker, Jr. celebrated 22 years of marriage last September.
She earned a BS in Biology from Millersville University and an Associate Degree in Cardiovascular Technology from HACC and worked at York Hospital as a Cardiostenographer.
Ruth added wit, sparkle and a lively presence when she entered any gathering. She was meticulous and elegant as well as the life of the party. She loved boating on the Chesapeake Bay with her husband, friends and family. Ruth also enjoyed traveling, preparing fine food, classical music and interior decorating. She and her husband were inseparable romantics with a love for life and each other.
Besides her parents and her husband Dean, Ruth is survived by her step-son Matthew Baker of Lancaster, PA, a brother Thomas McInnes of Poolesville, MD, sisters Rebecca Brousseau of Byron, MI, Rachel Knepper of Monett, MO and brother Timothy McInnes of Philadelphia, PA.
The family will greet friends at The Groffs Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 528 W. Orange St. (corner of Orange & Pine Streets) on Saturday August 20 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later time. Please omit flowers.
