Mrs. M. E. Johannsen, 75, died at a hospital in Austin, Minn. Monday after a illness of 2 weeks.
Mrs. Johannsen nee Clara Tietjens was born Sept. 27, 1872 in Brunswick, MO.
In 1885 the family moved to Mason City.
In 1889 she married Max E. Johannsen of Mason City.
They lived on a farm near Mason City until 1910 when they purchased a farm near Manly and lived there until 1920 when they purchased a farm East of Austin. They retired in 1943.
She is survived by her husband and four sons; Waldo E., Clifford R., and Harry of Austin, Minn., Roger, Denver, Colorado. Also six grandchildren, two brothers, Ludwig H. Tietjens, Kenaston, Sask., Canada and Hugo Tietjens, Clinton, Two sisters: Mrs. Anna Alitz and Mrs. Helena Williams, of Mason City.
