Richard and Mary were members of the Congregational Church in New Haven. Mentioned in the Connecticut Colonial Records, Volume 10; in 1776 Richard Brockett dropped a 20 shilling note into the fire. Upon proving that it was an accident, the General Assembly ordered the amount paid back to him.

In his will, which was proved April 13, 1813, he left to his wife, Jemima, one-half of his six acre lote, one-half of the building; one-third of the lot lying east of Stephen Brockett's farm, this one-third to run through the middle; one-half of the pond and island salt meadow, except one acre called Sackett's meadow; one-fourth of the Cove meadow to use and improve during life.
To his son Joseph one-third of the land near John Barnes; one acre of salt meadow called Sackett's meadow; one-half of the Cove meadow.
To his son Giles, all land and meadows not given above, with the buildings, and he paying to his sister, Mary Ives, 3 pounds and 10 shillings.
To his son Richard all lands, meadows and buildings given to his step-mother during life and paying to his sister, Mary Ives, 3 pounds and 10 shillings.
To his daughter, Mary Ives, 17 pounds, also the 24 pounds advanced at her marriage, and the 7 pounds paid by her brothers.
To his daughter, Lydia Blakeslee, 31 pounds which was advanced at her marriage.
