Death: May 17, 1860

US Congressman. Twice elected to represent Massachusetts' 3rd District in the US House of Representatives, he served as an American Party candidate from 1855 to 1857 and as a Republican from 1857 to 1859. He suffered a paralytic stroke during his second term and did not seek renomination in 1858. In the private sector Damrell owned a large printing establishment in Boston, and after leaving Congress he resumed this enterprise as much as his health would allow, until his death at 50. (bio by: Bobb Edwards)
