Dr. J. O. Newton Dies Suddenly In Lima Office
Dr. J. O. Newton, 53, of 850 W. High-st, prominent Lima dentist, died suddenly of apoplexy at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in his office, 75 Public-sq.
His daughter, Miss Margaret Newton, was with him at the time of death. Dr. Newton had been ill for several weeks, but had gone to his office each day.
Dr. Newton was a graduate of the Ohio State Medical college in Columbus. From 1921 to 1928 he was director of physical education at Ohio Northern university in Ada. Previously to that period he held the same position at Heidelberg college. He had practiced in Lima since 1928. He was a member of the Masonic lodge in Ada and formerly a member of the Elks.
Surviving are a widow, Bess Lentz Newton, and the one daughter. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Bowersock and Chiles funeral home. The Rev. E. W. Bloomquist, pastor of the First Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial park cemetery.
